Ramana Ashram Radio Channel

Ramana Ashram in Tiruvannamalai have launched their own radio channel to play songs, sacred chants, commentaries and readings from the works of Sri Ramana Maharshi and other saints glorifying Arunachala.

In the words of Ramana Ashram:

“Voice of Arunachala” is an Internet radio station broadcast from Sri Ramanasramam, Tiruvannamalai, India. Sri Ramana Maharshi has written a verse meaning “This is Arunachala, Ocean of Compassion, one thought of whom bestows liberation.

Arunachala Mahatmyam states that “Arunachala Hill is the center of the Earth and the Heart of Lord Siva. We hope to bring the atmosphere of the ashram within the earshot of listeners anywhere in the world. Listeners are welcome to send suggestions for the improvement of the program."

To find out more about the availability of the radio channel, please visit the ashram at their link here

  1. This is great. About time the Ramanasram developed an app for us devotees!!! They have recently uploaded separate links for Iphone and Android users. Thanks for sharing this with us Meenakshi!

  2. Bhagavan is silence and self inquiry. Why is the ashram resorting to noise? I guess, they have to be competitive in today's world or they will lose so much of the market share of devotees and donations. Even so, it is hard to accept. Thanks for letting us know.

  3. Before Sri Ramana died he was asked what was to happen to the Ashram after his death. He said that it should become a spiritual centre. From what I understand the Ashram is committed to disseminating the teachings of their Guru to as large a number of people as possible.

For this reason they use whatever means possible. Previously it was through the process of printed books and magazines, but now in the technology era, the Ashram also utilises dissemination by internet and radio . . . it makes sense!

  4. Hi Meenakshi. The ashram has just released a Learn Aksharanamalai app for Android. Perhaps could you mention something about this on your blog, and also how the the Aksharanamalai hymn came to be? Also there is an official FB page for the Ashram now. And they seem to update with more photos about events at the Ashram than the normal website.

  5. Listening VofA's programs like Veda parayanam, Nocchur discourses etc is really a pleasure.. But is there any fixed programme schedule ? Radio Sai's programs directly webcast's morning Poona/ Bhajan etc live. Other programs happen as per schedule. VofA also should try to webcast morning and evening programs live.
