Facts about the Moon

Only 59% of the moon's surface is visible from earth.

Its surface area is 9.4 million acres (about 1/4 of Earth.)

Moon is not a planet, but a satellite of the Earth.

It rotates at 10 miles per hour (compared to earth's 1000 miles per hour).

One side always faces Earth.

It has no global magnetic field.

The moon has no wind, light, or water.
