Previous 2002 Mahakumbhabhishekam at Arunachaleswarar Temple

Its fascinating to view photographs of the previous Mahakumbhabhiskeham ceremony at Arunachaleswarar Temple in 2002. It all looks the same and yet so very different.

So sad. You are right Hari. The newspapers reported that there was great dissatisfaction that the Temple, which has a capacity for the attendance of 16,000 devotees -- only allowed 5,000 to be inside the compound during the Mahakumbhabhishekam. As well as that in the recently concluded 2016 Deepam, invitations were strictly regulated and not available to the general public.

From what I've heard many of the "general public" are quite vocal in expressing their dissatisfaction with being excluded from their own Temple.

Is it true Meenakshi that white people are now banned from the sanctum sanctorum of the Big Temple?
