When Pradosham falls on a Wednesday it is known as "Saumya Vaara Pradosha" and is believed to benefit a person with education, wisdom, children and the fulfillment of wishes.

Previous 2002 Mahakumbhabhishekam at Arunachaleswarar Temple



Its fascinating to view photographs of the previous Mahakumbhabhiskeham ceremony at Arunachaleswarar Temple in 2002. It all looks the same and yet so very different.

The below photographs are of the Mahakumbhabhishekam ceremony which was performed at Arunachaleswarar Temple on Monday, February 6, 2017. I will be posting a full narrative of this great Festival (with additional photographs on my website next month) which lasted from Thursday January 26 to Tuesday February 7, 2017. 2017 Mahakumbhabhishekam, Arunachaleswarar Temple: Function at Anna Chathiram, Car Street



This posting is in connection with the previous one, of the creation of a new covering of the flagpost at the Sri Unnamulai Shrine, Arunachaleswarar Temple.

In this posting after a puja function at the Anna Chathiram, on Car Street, the Temple priests walk to the Big Temple in connection with the work of covering the flagpost with an amalgam of the five precious metals.
