 --- oOo ---

Last year Vasanth TV as well as having a live TV Telecast also had a wonderful live online streaming of Bharani Deepam from 3 am or 3.30 am in the morning and a live telecast of Maha Deepam from 4.00 pm in the evening

The photograph is of last year’s live feed from the inside of the Arunachaleswarar Temple Compound. It is expected that Vasanth TV will also have a live stream this year 2012 at this link, (I hope to confirm that early tomorrow morning).

For Ramana Maharshi devotees, the Ramana Maharshi ashram will be running a live feed on their website of a Deepam function to be held at their Ashram, which will include film of Arunachala from a distance with the deepam on top.

First sight of the Deepam of the 2011 Karthigai Deepam Festival from the Samudram Erie. The sounds of cheers and fireworks ring through the air.

As dusk quickly falls, the light on Arunachala becomes easier to see.

And now, even in the light of the moon that tomorrow will be full, the Deepam on top of Arunachala blazes like a beacon for miles around.

HAPPY AND BLESSED DEEPAM TO ONE AND ALL

Will soon post photographs of the actual cauldron Deepam lighting at the top of Arunachala, do check back.

Episode at Mahadeepam

It is estimated a crowd in excess of a million attended the 2007 Mahadeepam lighting function at Arunachala. However the occasion was not completely without incident.

Just before the lighting of the flame which occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on November 24th, a flame appeared on the Hill directly below the area containing the Deepam cauldron. The flame was so large that some people even thought that it was the Deepam light itself.

Miscreants allegedly set fire to the dry grass on the Hill, a few minutes before the sacred lamp was lit.

Six photo-journalists, who covered the lighting of the Karthigai Mahadeepam on Saturday, found themselves in the midst of a fire which broke out on the hilltop.

One photo-journalist said; “We were scared when the fire encircled us. There was no way of escape for us except to backtrack on our path. Luckily, it changed course. We reached the plains after a lot of difficulty since we missed the path while trying to avoid the fire,” Devotees also faced difficulties due to the fire.
